What a team of award-winning designers… Sure we’ve had a lot of experience on our side, not to mention a plethora of knowledge and an eye for beauty. But what you may not know is we all are driven by a pure passion to help you find your personal look — whether it’s bold, contemporary, modern, traditional, international, sustainable or just fun.
As the founder and owner of The Design House, I’m in the perfect place to fulfill my life’s goals — to create an environment where happy, well-cared for individuals can thrive and do their best work. My interior design team consists of self-driven, talented professionals who are ready to help our clients translate their visions into inspiring spaces.
My passion for design dates back to my days as an interior designer in the “hot” Las Vegas market in early 2000. As I traveled through different careers, I find myself in my third chapter of life — back to what I really love, interior design.
When it comes to my personal style, I realize I have always been into fashion. I look at the trends but always focus on the ones that have longevity — the ones that are not necessarily over the top expensive but are always in style. This love of fashion helps explain my passion for interior design and my clients will reap the benefits of spaces that are considered always in fashion.
Finally, I am a passionate, kind and loving person who is a solid business leader and a proud mother of two amazing children — both who inspire me each and every day. I pledge that myself and my team will help you through the many challenges and obstacles of creating the perfect living or working space.
I love numbers. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from San Diego State University and four decades of accounting experience in a variety of accounting roles, I have found a work home at The Design House. My role as Office Administrator allows me the unique opportunity of being the company accountant, as well as creating and implementing structure and policy.
After spending 30 years in the high-tech industry in Southern California, including 12 years as the President/COO of IMC Networks, I ventured to a new industry, Interior Design. Since many of the principles used to manage or drive the financial side of any business apply, I have been fortunate to use my many years of accounting and business management experience to support the continued success of The Design House.
A designer I am not, although a beautiful balance sheet or monthly financial report is a thing of beauty for any accountant, I am always amazed with the results our designers achieve. Seeing their creativity, energy and dedication to their clients only makes my job that more rewarding.
With my best friend/wife Robin of 30 years, we raised 3 amazingly gifted and beautiful children. We are empty-nesters, with the exception of our fur-babies (labs), Gracie and Murphy. Baseball will always be my passion, having played through community college. After coaching little league for 17 years, I have a difficult time passing a baseball field with a game being played and not wanting to stop and watch!
With over 18+ years of practical experience in interior design, I have a passion for helping my clients take their vision to the next level. I enjoy getting to know all the “real” decision makers in the project and holding hands to deliver a great living space. I love my family and volunteering in the community that I cherish.

My educational background in Art and the Humanities helps me articulate design with context and meaning. I have had the passion for Interior Design and architecture since childhood, and I delight in monitoring and anticipating trends and innovation throughout the world. I truly believe in design’s power to shape the function, mood and message for a client, as well as reflect a client’s personal style.
I am a native of the West, so the power of space and light are especially key to my design philosophy, as well as an underpinning of practicality, authenticity and simplicity. I have done work in all styles and worked for all kinds of design projects – commercial as well as residential. I embrace the blurring of categories in design and its move to integrate multiple disciplines of tech, lighting, sustainability, performance and landscaping along with good business practices for value added investments.
I bring my artistic, drafting and project management skills to my work, but its my desire to create design that is fresh, relevant and reflective of the client’s needs, which I believe are most important — along with the experience to discern those needs and knowledge to execute the vision.
My work has generated multiple design awards, I have been a frequent public speaker about remodeling, development, futuristic housing, and color. I am NCIDQ certified and a Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), currently serving the Intermountain Chapter as the Professional Development Director.
I moved to Idaho a little over 20 years ago with my husband and am happy to have made it the home for my family. I’ve immersed myself in the Boise community and have been actively giving back to it. I currently holds board positions for Fundsy and Camp Rainbow Gold and previously served 9 years on the board for Ballet Idaho.
I have always had a love for design sparked my childhood of moving around the country and being exposed to all different styles of architecture. I translated this love into my professional life beginning a career in interior design over 15 years ago. My love of design influenced my personal life as well by sharing a passion for old homes with my husband.
My passion for inspired creativity began with a love of nature and intrigue of artistic expression. Teaching art in Australia paved the way for a lifetime of adventures. I have lived in various locations coast to coast and am native to Iowa.
Developing living environments utilizes all elements of art and applies those concepts into a 3 dimensional space. I have consulted and guided people through the creative process of transforming a dwelling into a home that is as individually unique as each client. Knowledge of new trends, interior elements and materials coupled with the understanding of how global culture influences design perspectives, allows me to remain relevant to a wide demographic expectation.
Some of my residential experience includes interesting projects such as: VIP condos on Park Avenue in New York City, a Villa in Hilton Head, South Carolina, historic renovation of the Oneida House in Oneida, N.Y., and other residential work in Georgia, Kansas, South Carolina, Washington, and California. Corporate design has included the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY, Caesars Palace, Lake Tahoe, Ruth Copper Mine in Ely NV and the WA Department of Transportation, Seattle WA.

While I am just starting my career in the interior design field, my passion for design is addictive. I have so much to learn but I am looking forward to combining modern and vintage products together to make unique and comfortable spaces. I love to combine “pops” of color to deliver an impressive yet warm and inviting environment.
In my role at The Design House, I work on finding great suppliers who offer unique and long-lasting furniture, help find examples of designs from around the world that will fit in the Treasure Valley and help the company engage with the community via Social Media.
I graduate from Boise State University in December 2018 with a Bachelors of Arts and Science in Corporate Communication, and hope to use my degree to further my career at The Design House.
I got my start in interior design 11 years ago when I came to work at (then) Carol’s Design House. Since then I have lived in Florida and Hawaii with my husband who served in the US Navy for 6 years. While I was away, I attended Paul Mitchell The School and became a licensed cosmetologist.
In the ever changing world of design I find it important and exciting to be on the constant hunt for the most unique and current products for our clients.
I am very happy to be back in Boise and involved in the design community. I hope to bring my passion for travel and art to my work here at The Design House.
My love for interior design began by being out in nature and being surrounded by the Western and agricultural way of life. I was born and raised in Northwest Montana as a rodeo cowgirl and outdoor enthusiast, skiing and snowboarding in the winter, boating in the summer, and riding horses everywhere. I grew up rodeo-ing and skill compete in barrel racing. I love the sport and heritage of the Western lifestyle and the elegance and strength it prevails.
I have always been self-driven, passionate, and creative. I joined the Navy when I was 18 and spent 8 years as a Air Traffic Controller. I used my GI Bill to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. I am now finally blessed to bring all of my backgrounds together at The Design House. I am eager to learn the ever changing trends, and I have a strong desire to bring comfort, style, and elegance to life in beautiful environments in the Treasure Valley. I enjoy natural woods and stones using modern rustic, farmhouse, and organic elements and textures that will remain durable and sustainable for years to come. My goal is to help my clients throughout the process of design and to bring their vision to life to create what suites their needs and lifestyle.
“Whether it’s horses or whatever you do, it doesn’t become art until your soul goes into what you do.” – Buck Brannaman
Design is as much a part of me as music is to a musician, books to an author, art to an artist and so on. It comes naturally in everything I do. There’s just something about the complexity yet simplicity of design that drives my passion when creating/transforming spaces. Space planning is often one of those simple yet complex solutions. I enjoy applying my knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp and Revit to help solve space planning issues while simultaneously helping clients visualize the possibilities and realize the potential of their space. Having these skills also allows our clients to make changes if necessary, before the project actually begins.
I have made it a life goal to travel to a new destination at least once a year. So far my travels have taken me to Egypt, Israel, other parts of the Middle East, England, France and Peru. Each destination gives me a new appreciation for architecture and design.
My husband, Rodolfo, and I love being spontaneous. We love cooking together, taking little drives to anywhere and working on construction projects. We are currently remodeling our basement apartment and loving it!
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a team member at The Design House and I look forward to the many experiences and challenges ahead.
Education- Graduated in 2017 with High Honors from LDS Business College
I am an Idaho native, raised in a farming community. That special background gave me an appreciation for hard work and a respect for the contractors and subcontractors who are so instrumental in the knowledge and craftsmanship required for completion of a truly unique design vision. I know that mutual respect on a project results in a superior experience for each client.
I was the owner of Carol’s Design House (now The Design House, Inc.) from 1990 through 2016. Those years include a broad array of commercial and residential projects with clients from all parts of the country. While specializing in construction and remodeling projects, I can assist clients with the simplest or the most complex requests.
I pride myself on only one interior design specialty — getting the client successfully through the process. Knowledge of products, implementation tools and opportunities for solutions is an obvious requirement for any interior design professional, but the ability to understand and communicate with clients and other project professionals is ultimately what gets any project to completion.
I’m married to Bill Whitacre and we both enjoy almost everything outdoors. We are avid adventure sports enthusiasts and find any opportunity to be outside, particularly in the McCall area at our home. My love for my Australian Shepherd dogs is paramount. A day outside with Bill and my fur-kids is the very best day.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After a few years, I left public accounting and went to work for a national real estate development and construction company located in Boise, Idaho and Newport Beach, CA. In 1990, I purchased Carol’s Design House and brought together my diverse backgrounds.
I have served and continue to serve on a number of philanthropic boards in the Boise area including:
- Junior Achievement
- Capital Matrix
- Ronald McDonald House
- Interior Designers of Idaho (founding board member)
- Avid supporter of the Idaho Humane Society
As a progressive, licensed Interior Designer in the commercial industry, I bring a fresh approach to creating spaces by enhancing not only the decor and function of a space, but also the relationship between the space and the people who interact within it. The strength in my design solutions comes from an understanding of my client’s needs and wants and translating them into beautiful, practical, and engaging spaces. I respect the impact that the design process has on the environment and the ability I have to make it a positive one.
After earning a business degree from Texas A&M University, I spent three years working in Washington, DC for a non-profit and defense contractor before discovering my true passion of Interior Design. While studying for my BFA in Interior Design at the Art Institute of Dallas, I chose to follow a path into the commercial industry. During the 2009 recession, I moved to Washington, DC area again and spent the next 4 years working in the federal design practice with a focus on furniture design.
Opportunities took me back to Texas in 2013, offering me the privilege to design for top Fortune 100 firms and my alma mater. While living in Houston I also fell in love with a dog named Louie, volunteered for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, ran the Houston Marathon in 2018, and was an active professional member of IIDA. The latest chapter has just begun, with a move back to my roots and hometown of Boise, Idaho. I’m looking forward to new adventures in design and the chance to ski all winter!
